The town wasn't in Canada, but has been known as the Tunguska Detonation in Siberia. An area the size of New England as leveled by what scientists say was an asteroid. The only problem is there is no impact crater. The story is that Tesla needed to find a new source of funding for his wireless energy project after being turned down by JP Morgan. Morgan found out that there was no way to meter the power used, and didn't want to lose the power he had, since he owned a stake in so many power stations across the country. In order to secure a new source of funds, Tesla decided to make a demonstration that would show the world he was on to something. At the time an explorer (who's name escapes me at the moment) was attempting to attain the North Pole on foot. Tesla decided to use his new power source to create a detonation withing sight of the expedition. Tesla activated his device, and waited for the excited reports from the team in the Arctic. Days went by, and no excited reports of a trmendous explosion. Tesla felt that something had gone wrong and continued with his research. Months went by. Reports finally began to filter in about the massive explosion in Siberia. Being as remote as it was, it took that long to located the source of forest fires that turned part of Europe into daylight at midnight. The reports of the destruction so unnerved Tesla that he swore his assistants to secrecy. Why is there a tie between the Tunguska detonation and Tesla's lab. By drawing a line from Tesla's lab, past the position of the Pole expedtion, into Siberia, you wind up at ground zero of the devastation.
