Workstudy of Blackstar

One of the things about drawing that I have found to be somewhat universal is that the best works are often done when we do not try to do our best. It must have something to do with being more relaxed when we do not try so hard.
In any case, this drawing was done while I was chatting on ICQ one time. I liked how it turned out and added some post-drawing shading to it in Photoshop.

Blackstar is a character of mine from way back. He has a real name, but because he had so much bad luck when he was growing up that someone commented that he must have been born under a black star and the tag stuck. While serious, he is not particularly angsty with bouts of depression about his tough past. It happened and he has gotten over it. However it did harden his personality, which when you consider that he works as a agent for a covert government agency works out quite well.
