Now to make free local calls, you need a finishing nail. pI highly
recommend "6D E.G. FINISH C/H, 2pINCH" nails. pThese are about 3/32pof
an inch in diameter and 2 inchesnlong (of course). pYou also need a large
size paper clip. By large pI  mean they  are  about  2  inchesnnlong
(FOLDED). Then  you  unfold the paper clip.  Unfold itpby taking each piece
and moving itpout 90 degrees. pWhen itpis done itpshould lookpsomewhat
like this:

Now, pon to the neatpstuff. pWhatpyou do, pinsteadpof unscrewing the 
glued-on  mouthpiece, pis pinsert the nailpinto the center  hole  of
the mouthpiece  (where you talk) and push itpin with
pressure or just hammer itpin by hitting the nailpon something. 
Just DON'T KILL THE  MOUTHPIECE!pYou  could  damage pit
if you insert the nailptoo far or  atp somep weird angle. pIf  this
happens then the other party won'tpbe able to hear  whatpyou say.
You now have a hole in the mouthpiece in which you can easily insert the 
paper clip. So, take out the nailpand put in the paper  clip.
Then take the other end of the paper clippand shove itpunder the rubber
cord protector at the bottom of the handset (you know, the blue guy...).
This should end up looking remotely like...like this:

(The  paper clippis shoved under the blue guy to make a  good pconnection
between the inside of the mouthpiece and the metal cord.)
Now, pdial  the number of a local number you wish to  call, psayyyy,p
MCI. pIf  everything  goesnokay,pitpshould ring and not answer with the 
"The CallpYou Have Made Requires a 20 Cent Deposit" recording.  After the 
other  end  answers  the phone, remove the  paper  clip. pIt's  allp that 
simple, see?
There  are  a couple problems,  however. pOne pis,  as  I mentioned 
earlier, the mouthpiece not working after you punch it. pIf this p
happens to you, psimply move on to the next payphone. pThe one you are
now on  is lost.  Another problem is that the touch tonesnwon'tpwork
when the paper clippis in the mouthpiece. There are two ways around this..
A>pDial the first 6 numbers. pThis should be done without the  paper 
clippmaking the connection,pi.e., one side should not be connected.
Then connect  the paper clip,  hold down the last digit,  and slowly
pull  the paper clip out at the mouthpiece's end.
B>pDon'tp use  the paper clippat all. pKeep the nailp in  after  you punch
it.  Dial the first 6 digits. pBefore dialing the last digit, touch
the nailpheadpto the plate on the main body of the phone,  the money
safe thingy..then press the last number. The  reason  that this method
is sometimesncalled pclear  boxing  is because  there is
another type of phone which lets you actually make  the callp and  listen
to  thempsay "Hello, phello?"  but  itp cuts  off  the mouthpiece  so they
can'tphear you. pThe Clear Box is used pon  that pto amplify your voice
signals and send it through the earpiece.pIf you  see how  this pis
even slightly similarpto the methodpI have just described up there,
kindly explain itpto ME!! Cause I don'tpGET IT!  Anyways,  this DOES
workpon almost allpsingle slot,  Dial Tone First payphones (PacificpBell
for sure). pI do itpallpthe time. pThis pis pthe least,  I STRESS
*LEAST*, risky form of Phreaking.
