If you can afford it, get the type that have the zipper for a -PM>quick put on or take off. If you need to change (from suit to boonies), -PM>the zipper makes it a lot easier instead of fighting laces. DP-Yes, the zipper is nice for "rapid deployment" but it's a whole -lot easier to replace a shoelace than a zipper. Unless you have enough -of a cache for a couple of years worth of boots the -shoelaces would be my first thought. Good point, tho in a "rapid deployment" if the zipper failed that's what a pocket knife is for. Cut out the zipper and replace with a lace. Even with zippers, a pair of extra laces should be in your bug-out bag. DP-PM>the English, just not as many of us. :+} Most of the "hunting" -PM>tartans are of a subdued color and in greens and browns with very thin -PM>lines of red, yellow, white, and blue running in them. Say what you -PM>will but these tartans blend in better than the "government" issue green -PM>goon suits. Plus, when in town they are acceptable wear in just about -PM>every place citizens would want to go. Most of mine are in wool. They -PM>repel dirt, and are nice and warm even when wet. Mine came from -PM>Pendeltons up in Oregon. Expensive....around $40... but I believe they -PM>are worth it. DP-Paul, I have never really considered a "Camelion Suite" that would be -usefull in "civilization" and in the bush. I have always considered that -it is necessary to dress civilian and change at some hidden point to camouflage. I have been able to camouflage myself - well enough that I could easily take an -"enemy" with a handheld knife and no one even knew I was there. Could -have easily taken down several enemy without being detected with poison -darts in a blowgun. However, here in S. Fl. we only have one season to -contend with. Northerners would have to have seperate suits for each of -the 4 seasons. This is a very reasonable consideration. I never really considered "taking an enemy" while enroute to a shelter or a retreat. I had figured on mostly "traveling". Get to the retreat, take stock of the situation, and then ..... whatever is necessary. Presently, I reside on the edge of a metropolis with Dallas and Fort Worth as suburbs. I would need to travel approx. 10 miles to get into an area to "disappear". I have in the past walked (with my bug-out kit) and not been molested by the local fosdicks. But in a time of "emergency", anyone wearing cammies would be snatched off the road so fast it'd make your lookers spin. Wearing a hunting tartan, would in most likely instances be overlooked. When and if circumstances "required", then cammies could be brought out and donned. But wearing civvies, would get you out of the danger area so you could gather family and friends and then regroup. DP-The "Government issue" greens are just the -beginning. There are "layers" to a good disguise and the base greens are -just the "base coat". DP-Is there an address for Pendeltons so I could get a catalogue? I don't know. I'll check my receipts for a phone number and address. DP-Big Dave -KD4IPG ^^^^^^^^ Just got your ticket too.??. Got mine in March 93. Having a bit of trouble with ol' Sam's stuff, but will eventually get it down. I'm trying to get a fund set up for a couple mobiles and a base rig. But it isn't growing as fast as I would like. When my sweetie graduates, I've promised her a trip home to Scotland. That will be expensive.....;+} The WEE Scot Paul KC5AIQ ž QMPro 1.02 41-3175 ž All stressed up and no one to choke. --- FMail 0.96ā # Origin: -->point MUDGE bbs * V32b * Shelton, WA USA<-- (1:352/111) * Origin: EchoGate!
