Caesar by Lionus (JUL99)
"... glancing down the length of his muzzle with imperial distain ..."
The lionmorph is not the historical Caesar, but Caesar Blackclaw, a character of mine on Tapestries. The picture? Hmmm, probably an idle daydream of his while he works around his adoptive father's villa. And yes, his eyes really are lavender. :)
This pic started out as a simple drawings of what I thought might just be an interesting pose to draw. Could I do it? Well the drawing turned out better than I expected and so I decided to color it with the results shown above.
The picture's marble background gives a nice "Roman-y" look to the pic, or as Roman as Hollywood would have us believe. I liked doing the satin cloth under Caesar as it gives the pic a nice "artsy" feeling and it keeps the pic from being a totally static "studio shot" by pulling the eye from side to side.
