A bright sunny morning in the studio.

Studios are by the requirement of the models sometimes being unclothed a warm sunny place. Plants like warm sunny places too. It is a very inviting and cozy place that encourages relaxation on both the model and the artist's part.

About done for the day I started to do a rough "color finish" of the line work layout of this piece for the following day. Rough color pics are essentially throw-away colorings done after the completion of the layout and linework to establish some initial idea of what colors will be used for coloring the picture later. Sort of a risk-free try-out of whatever pops into your mind. If the colors do not work out, no problem. You simply delete it and try other colors. But the rough coloring of this piece flowed so easily and quickly that I was finished with it in only a few hours.

Putting down all your colors on one layer as if you were doing an oil painting tends to nudge you into many of the same techniques that you would use in actually painting on a canvas with oil paints with the end result of the artwork looking much like an oil painting.

Inspired by a painting by N. Zdravkovic.
